SX15-PRO is the last evolution of the SX15 board.
It is equipped with all the features of the former versions, moreover now SX15-PRO adds new functions very interesting
for the developing of several applications:
among the main new characteristic consider the radiofrequency module on 2.4GHz with ZigBee technology,
providing also two AD channels with 10bit resolution.
Introduction
Rabbit modules from RCM3600 and RCM3700 series, even if on the market for some time,
still have the leadership for the best ratio cost / performances of the entire product range;
for this reason the third evolution of the SX15 board has born.
Still keeping unchanged the general structure that encountered good success, then it adds more flexibility and peripherals
very useful for the developing of large of number of projects.
Among the most interesting new features, we want top ut in evidence the introduction of an host connector for Xbee module
(The Xbee and Xbee Pro modules: the wireless Zigbee transmissions made easy);
This module allows realizing, in an extreme easy way, a very reliable wireless network in Zigbee 2.4GHz technology,
with a coverage range up to 1500 meters in ideal conditions (version Pro of the module and antennas in straight view).
Beside this main feature, the module provides also other side functions, but very useful.
For example, it is possible to use 2 A/D conversion channels with 10 bit resolution, both readable directly through AT command,
the same for module control.
Another new is the elimination of the adapting small board between the Telit GM862 (GSM/GPRS/GPS) module and the SX15-Pro board itself.
This allows to fully use many of the interesting features of this module, for example receiving the NMEA sentences from the GPS receiver
directly on second serial port of the modem, so without interacting with the normal AT communication.
The hardware equipment is completed by a robust power supply section, where the response to noises and transients on the power line has been improved
to obtain an higher reliability.

Board configuration
The wide availability of board peripherals makes the hardware not completely usable at the same time.
For this reason on the board you fine 16 configuration switches that allow assigning the microprocessor serial ports only to the needed peripherals.
A clear and simple serigraphy allows setting the chosen configuration without and need of further documentation.

Compliance with the former version and hardware extensions
The new SX15-PRO board is fully compliant with the former version SX15-EVO.
The only differences deal with the GSP module REB700, that is not available anymore in this version since the GPS receiver is directly integrated in the Telit GM862-GPS modem, and the input for the backup battery that has been removed.
But all the firmware codes developed for the SX15-EVO board, included the source codes you fine in the article SX15-Evo - Even more power and flexibility!, still remain properly working and may be used as projects start-up.
The compliance with the former version concerns also with mechanical matters:
so the board has the same dimensions and the same fastening bores position.
This way it still can fit the same anodized aluminium case to realize end user devices.
